Programme: Respond. Clap your hands. Say "Aiwa." Audio piece
Drawing from a wide range of source material, this recorded performance combines a palette of edits of classic Arabic pop, found sounds from radio, television, conversation, and the streets of Cairo, Doha, and Toronto, within a framework of original electronic composition that responds and envelops these sounds.
The intended listening experience evokes radio listening while in transit, moving from room to room in a venue for dance music, or musical daydreaming while watching the news—moving from space to space into another in which the sounds themselves are the main elements.
